Stop chasing your calling. Start chasing God.

“For this reason I say to you, do not be worried about your life, as to what you will eat or what you will drink; nor for your body, as to what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? And who of you by being worried can add a single hour to his life? You of little faith! Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” Matthew 6:25, 27, 30, 33

Sweet friend who is feeling small and insignificant, I see you.

I see the loneliness you feel, having identified your calling but then feeling abandoned by the One who called you. I see the heartache that comes with a deep desire to follow in His footsteps but wondering if it's worth the sacrifice. I understand the sleeplessness that comes alongside wrestling with what you are ABLE to do, what you have TIME to do and what you think God is calling you to do. Sometimes, it feels just too much to bear.

But what if we decided this morning to lay our "callings" down and simply ask God what He wants us to do in this moment? What if those of us who struggle to feel fulfilled, those of us who are constantly in the middle of a wait, what if we began to fill that emptiness with His presence instead of "our purpose?" What if we stopped comparing our call that came years ago to the call on our friend that seemed to come yesterday?

If we actually made a choice to believe in Him instead of His call, would He then give us joy... even in His silence?

Gosh, y'all, I think He would.

I see the doubting, the hurting, the struggling, the desperate because I am one of you. I deeply feel the desire to seek God’s plan for your life because that’s the first thought in my head in the morning when I wake up.

And I have this sneaky suspicion that when we seek God first - when we actually seek HIM first - that everything else will fall into place for the day. No, there might not be a red sea that parts, or a neon sign flashing “walk this way”, but there will be peace, joy, more faith, more hope and most of all, more love.

Success in our calling is not defined by numbers, sales calls and closed deals, but instead it is defined by God’s very presence in our lives, amen?

Let’s chase more of HIM together, today, y’all.
